SpongeBob SquarePants is an animated film based on the hit Nickelodeon TV show SpongeBob SquarePants. The film was produced and directed by Stephen Hillenburg series makers, as well as voice-series starring Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, and Mr. Lawrence, and guest star Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Tambor, Alec Baldwin, and David Hasselhoff. The film is produced Nickelodeon Movies, in association with the company Stephen Hillenburg United Plankton Pictures, and distributed by Paramount Pictures. This film tells the story of Plankton steals King Neptune\`s crown and blames Mr. Krabs. SpongeBob and Patrick have to restore the crown of Shell City to rescue Mr. Krabs and Bikini Bottom.

For more than a year, Stephen Hillenburg asked to make a film based on the series but was rejected. When the film was produced, Stephen Hillenburg stop production of the series after the third season finished manufactured. The team of authors consists of Stephen Hillenburg, Derek Drymon, Paul Tibbitt, Aaron Springer, Tom Hill, and Kent Osborne. Originally the film will be the end of the series, but Nickelodeon want more episodes, so Paul Tibbitt replace Stephen Hillenburg and producing a fourth season. When the film was produced, Jules Engel, mentor Hillenburg at the California Institute of the Arts, died; this film was dedicated to him.
